I spend most of my days at my desk where I live, breathe, and thrive, as do many writers, as do many of you. Our desks are sources of power. We work at our desks. We create at our desks. Therefore, our desks should reflect that.



Glass And Steel Desks - These can be very affordable, or quite expensive. Some of the least expensive L shaped desks are made from glass and steel. They can be ideal for smaller corners, but have minimal features. The corner usually has a raised platform for a computer screen, and there is a small platform at the bottom in the corner for the CPU. Other than that, however, there is little built in storage included.

Another problem I witnessed was with an antique small desk. It was glorious in appearance and made a perfect accessory to the room it was in. But it was completely unusable as a desk because of the quality of its antiquity. No one could relax at this desk enough to use it as a functioning piece of furniture. What if you scratched it?

Furthermore, that fact that it is small doesn't mean that it doesn't have many uses. It can be used in an office so that you can do work or it can be used for many other purposes. Keeping a small desk near the front door to place your car keys, wallet, or maybe your sunglasses is a great useful way to use the piece of furniture. Using a small computer small Double Beds with mattress to keep your documents such as tax forms or bills and receipts is a great way to store these important papers while not placing them in a place where they will get lost with all of your other belongings.

The second step is to consider the style you prefer. Would you prefer that glossy antique-wood type of desk with all the elaborate carvings and dark finishing, or that contemporary looking one? How about a traditional desk? Or you might be thinking of something that will work best for your laptop aside from writing. You might prefer a modern desk.

The problem I saw with one of these was that the desk was really faux. It was inexpensive and looked marvellous and if all you wanted to use it for was as a decoration, it worked beautifully. But because it was just for decorative purposes, this desk was useless as a functioning desk. It could not support a laptop. Well, it could if it was a small laptop and it was not being used. But the minute you started typing on it, the whole desk wobbled.
